Spencer's Cabin - Spooner Lake

Spooner Lake & Backcountry State Park. This tiny cabin - only 280 sq ft - was built as a cattleman's cabin. At the time, the land around Spooner Lake was owned by the Carson Tahoe Lumber and Flume Company and later by the George Whittell family. The Spooner and lower North Canyon areas were leased to the cattle rancher Charlie Fulstone. At the time, this lake was known as Fulstone Reservoir. A caretaker named Spencer, the cabin's namesake, lived here while watching over Fulston's herds.
